So Excited!
Thanks to everyone willing to use their skills to help others and/or enhance life in Cape! I am really excited to see what y'all will come up with. Here are some things I was thinking about.... These are, of course, not formal RFPs with budget support at this time. But hey, a girl can dream, right?
A COMPREHENSIVE SOCIAL MEDIA TOOL: We'll be sitting through yet another sales pitch Monday trying to find a team-suitable tool to manage City social media (schedule, sunshine-compliant and research friendly archive, respond to inquiries, monitor trends/campaigns, reports/analytics, etc.)
CAPE EVENTS: Everybody has a calendar! The city, the media, library, Visitors Bureau, etc. etc. What if we could share the events? Have a single source for all the things?!
WELCOME MAT: a realtor/resident GIS-based app that can pull data by address instead of activating layers, with crime, average water bill, school district, etc.
VISION 2040: An online public square to post about what people want their city to be in the future. Connect with other dreamers and cause champions and doers who want to get to it!!
CIVIC GAME: Earn points and awards for doing good! Attending meetings, rollcalls, volunteering, etc.
DASHBOARD: Portal of local public data like crime, health indicators, cost of living, etc. and discussions around improving community conditions.
FITBUDDY: Find a workout/cycling friend for fellowship, encouragement, safety, whatever
BUDGET: Visualize city (or other agencies?) budget, interactive = allocate available funds, etc.
POTHOLE Spotter, Street work alerts
SHOP LOCAL: Support for locally owned and/or philanthropically active businesses
Cape Cares map that pulls tagged social media content, 211 and other data into a big map of feel goods
In partnership with Code for America fellows, a City developed AddressIQ. This tool was used to share data across previously siloed city departments, which allowed city staff to gain a more complete picture where residents in need were living. With this data, the City could ultimately help reduce unnecessary 911 calls and prevent costly, high intervention services. https://www.codeforamerica.org/stories/long-beach-uses-addressiq-to-focus-emergency-medical-resources ...
